Clinical features of hospitalized herpes zoster patients and comparison of elderly patients with younger patients: tertiary care clinical experience

Aim
 Several studies were conducted to determine the characteristics of hospitalized patients with Herpes Zoster. This study aimed evaluate especially elderly Zoster and compare them young adult in tertiary clinic Turkey.
 Material Methods
 Hospitalized HZ enrolled 2008 2020. Age, gender, length hospitalization, affected dermatomes, treatment agents, comorbidities, complications recorded from electronic medical files. 
 Results
 Totally 82 evaluated. 62.2% (n=51) over 65 years old. In group age, proportion female 54.9% (n=28), cervical dermatome involvement was 49% (n=25), most common comorbidity is hypertension, comorbid 92.2% (n=47), immunosuppressive 39.2% (n=20), complication acute neuralgia, complicated 68.6% (n=35), commonly used agents valacyclovir NSAID. The mean hospital stay 11.9 days. Conclusion
 Elderly tend be more have longer stays. Therefore, early important this group.
